Anders Olsson, Höllviken. Age: 51. Malmö Södra Rotary Club

During 20 years I was the owner and CEO of Berndt Johnsson Papper AB, a paper wholesale company in Malmö, in the southern part of Sweden. I sold the company in 2002 to spend more time with my family, to travel as well as to think about new projects.

I still own the plant where my old company is located. Since I always have been interested in real estate, design and construction I started investing in some lots in the new and popular West Harbour in Malmö. As a real estate developer I have built family homes and condominiums. I would like to meet with people who work in the same field in Florida.

As a consultant I’m working as a coach for future business leaders and family owned companies. I help them with the continuity from one generation to the next, the problems concerning the fairness among the children for not only the ones taking over but also the ones not taking over the company. I’m interested to see if there is someone in the district 6930 who works with something similar.

I’m also on several boards of directors.

As an open minded person, I communicate and socialise with people at ease. In my spare time I like to be around family and friends, travel, spend some time at the fitness club, swim and downhill skiing in the winter. I like nature and hiking. I am a hunter as well. I have a big interest in cars and motorcycles. I’m playing some golf but so far I’m not very successful.

I have also spent some time in Hollywood, Florida for many years as my sister in law lives there with her family and we ourselves have a house there since 8 years ago.

I’m looking forward to se more of Florida, more of different companies and learn more of the communities, meet people, and make new friends in the Rotary spirit.

Anna-Frida Jönsson, Brantevik. Age: 26. Executive designer

Sponsoring Club: Hammenhög RC

At the age of 22 I felt ready to do something different. It was time for me to try something really tough – the dream to start my own business. So 2002 the story of Fridas Grafiska began. Fridas Grafiska is a design agency that provides various companies with information and advertising products such as logotypes, brochures, magazines, business cards, web sites and newspaper ads and so on.

My intentions with this trip are to grow in my role as employer, designer and person. I would like to follow the work flow, study the technique and look at the graphic programs they use in big and small companies similar to Fridas Grafiska.

Another dream that I have is to create a ”house of business” in my home village Simrishamn. I want to do this because I’m very interested in professional networks and communities. It would be nice to see how this is working in Florida.

Finally DESIGN… I want to investigate what differences there are between Swedish and American design, and if so how it appears in newspapers, shop window displays, logotypes and so on.

Most of my spare time I spend with my fiancée and with our families and friends. I love to take walks in the nature and I’m very interested in animals. I have two cats and a dog. I like to cook, read magazines about design and interior decoration and go shopping.

Ulf Liljefors, Nyhamnsläge. Age: 36. Maintanance Manager

Sponsoring Club: Höganäs-Kullen RC

Education: Senior High school Engineer 1986 - 1990

I joined Höganäs Energi AB in April 1999 as a project engineer. Höganäs Energi is a municipally owned company who owns the electrical and opto mains in the municipal.

Today I am manager for the project department and for the service and maintenance department. My responsibilities are to do the long term planning and the budget for the department. I am also responsible for a staff of 18 people. As we are a small company I’m also directly involved in doing the opto connections to our customers.

In Florida I would like to visit companies who own electrical and/or opto mains to see how they are thinking with regards to building new or rebuilding existing mains. I would also like to get an insight into how the authorities rule the power supply in USA, to see the difference between Sweden and USA.

I’m also curious to see how they have built weatherproof electrical mains considering how exposed Florida is during the hurricane season.

I’m a cheerful, calm and steady person who likes challenges in both my work and private life. I’m an old swimmer who sometimes goes swimming just for exercise, otherwise my hobbies are golf, our house maintenance and just being with my family. Every year we travel to Austria for downhill skiing. Other sports I have practiced more or less are sports you practice in water such as sailing and water skiing. We have had our own sailing boat but a few years ago we sold it because we had no time for sailing.

I look forward to living with a host family to get to know these people and take part in how the usual way of life is in Florida.

Caroline Aspinge, Malmö. Age: 31. Police Officer

Sponsoring Club: Malmö Södra RC

Education:

  1996-1999: Law Studies, Lund University

  2001-2003: Police Academy, Stockholm.

  2005-2006: Forensic psychology, Kristianstad University

Work: In January 2003 I joined the police force in Malmö. I started as a patrolling police, but were quite soon drafted to an investigation team, mostly working with robbery. I stayed in this team for more than a year before I went on to work with more serious, violence and sexual crimes. During this time I also helped out on different educations for chief officers, where I mainly lectured about interrogation methods. I’ve also been working as a lecture at the Police Academy, where my main topics were law and methods of investigation. Right now, I’m having the benefit of self being a student since I’ve been selected to a national education for 6 months to become a leader of investigation, which end in Feb. 2007.

USA: I’ve mainly been working with investigation and education since I have a special interest in these kind of police work. During my stay I would like to join an investigation colleague during a interrogation situation, hear about your methods of interrogation and investigation, join a patrol during their work and if it’s possible it would be very interesting to see or hear about your Police Academy. These are only some examples, though I find almost all kind of police work interesting.

Caroline: I’m very interested in sport and other activities. I’ve been competing in sailing, skiing (down-hill), soccer, floor ball etc. for several years, but nowadays it’s just hobbies. During the summer time I spend as much time as I can at my parents' house in Stockholm's archipelago with sailing, water-skiing, sun bathing etc. Even during the rest of the year I try to spend time outdoors, go to a fitness centre, play floor ball twice a  week with friends and colleague etc. As a person I’m easy-going, open minded and friendly. I look forward to spending time with the host families and get to know your way of living. If there would be any spare time, I´d like to spend time by the ocean and see your nature.

Stina Adielsson, Lund. Age: 30. Physiotherapist

Sponsoring Club: Lund Kloster RC

I have been working as a physiotherapist since I took my degree at Lund university almost seven years ago. At present I work at the department of orthopedics, and also with sports related injuries. At the Hospital of  Hässleholm we are specialised in hip, knee and shoulder surgery. Here I meet all kinds of people but most elder people who’ve had a lot of pain before surgery. It’s often even more pain immediately after a surgery and therefore it could be a challenge to get these motivated to start rehabilitate. The end result is almost always very good and I strongly feel that my daily work make a positive difference.

In my spare time, but also at the hospital, I lead different kinds of keep-fit activities, such as strength training, fitness classes and box-training. I love this and it really gives me a lot of joy.

To enhance my career opportunities and to widen my perspectives in general I’m now attending an academic course in leadership, marketing and business administration. I hope this will give me a great deal of knowledge and experience to help me further in my career and personal development.

In Florida I would like to visit a hospital specialised in orthopaedic surgery to see what the rehabilitation is like in America. It would also be interesting to visit some primacies institute, a clinic for sports related injuries and of course all kind of fitness centres!

I spend a great deal of my spare time at the fitness centre, but also with my boyfriend, friends and family. I’m interested in reading, cooking, cultures and people. I’m curious by nature and I love to get to know new kinds of people and cultures.

I’m really looking forward to spending time in a new country and to really live close to the people there. This is a great opportunity and I will do everything to learn a lot and to share a positive and true picture of our great nation in America
